Propane Autogas Goes Mainstream

Dear Friends of ROUSH CleanTech,

When ROUSH CleanTech began manufacturing propane autogas fuel systems, this fuel was only spoken of as an “alternative” to gasoline and diesel. But, the conversation has shifted.

With the widespread usage of propane autogas fueled vehicles in a variety of industries, propane autogas has gone mainstream. The United States is figuring out why propane is the third most common engine fuel in the world behind gas and diesel. We have a significant advantage in available propane supply, low cost of infrastructure, reduced emissions and, most importantly, a fuel price that offers 40 percent plus in savings over gasoline and diesel.

This was clear at last week’s NTEA Work Truck Show. Hundreds of fleet managers filled the Work Truck Show sessions focused on propane autogas. Dozens of media attended our press conference to introduce the first FedEx Ground package delivery vehicle equipped with a ROUSH CleanTech fuel system. And many fleet managers, media and city officials (even the mayor of Indianapolis) stopped by one of the two Ride and Drive events that featured our trucks and vans fueled by clean, domestic and economical propane autogas.

On display in the exhibit hall were a Ford F-650 crane truck used by Asplundh Tree Expert, a FedEx Ground F-59 stripped chassis, and a Ford E-450 cutaway — all fueled by propane autogas. In the session “Fueling a Competitive Edge: How Top Fleets are Succeeding with Propane Autogas,” Renzenberger’s Tom Wurdack talked about the 150 propane autogas vans his company runs around the clock on 24-hour shifts due to both the fuel cost and emissions reductions.

Our customers are proving over and over again that these vehicles are a smart and integral part of their fleet.
