Propane GAS Act of 2011

OVERVIEW

What Is It?

The Propane Green Autogas Solutions Act  (“Propane GAS Act”, H.R. 2014 / S. 1120) of 2011 would extend for five years federal alternative fuel tax credits for:

  • Propane autogas fuel ($.50 / gallon)
  • Propane autogas vehicles (50% - 80% incremental cost)
  • Propane autogas refueling equipment (30% up to $30,000)

Impact

The Propane GAS Act offers significant economic growth, environmental and energy security benefits to the American economy.

An independent study by ICF International has found that the Propane GAS Act would help the U.S. economy in the following ways:

  • Generate an increase in economic activity, peaking between $4 billion and $5.7 billion per year.
  • Create 30,000 to 42,000 new jobs by 2016.
  • Lower our nation's dependence on foreign oil.
